Start with something easy to check
A club notice or an event announcement gives you a manageable first summarizing task. Choose a short piece of text you are allowed to share. Keep the original beside the answer so you can check what survived the rewrite.
For practice, use the made-up notice below. You can inspect it on this page or try the prompt in an AI app you already use. This page does not run a model.
Try this fictional notice
“Community puzzle afternoon: Saturday, 2–4 p.m. No registration needed. Bringing a puzzle is optional. The room has not been chosen yet. Children must come with an adult.”
Prompt to try: “Summarize this fictional notice under three headings: When and where, What to bring, and Still to confirm. Use only the notice. Keep optional and required things distinct. Preserve the rule about children. If a detail is absent, say so. Notice: [paste the fictional notice above].”
Check the details that could change someone's plans
Our editorial answer checklist: Saturday and 2–4 p.m. remain; the room is undecided; registration is unnecessary; bringing a puzzle is optional; children come with an adult. This checklist was written for the lesson, not captured from a model.
A tidy answer that names a room or turns an optional puzzle into an entry requirement has changed the event. Compare every time, location, amount, and condition with the original. A prompt asking for accuracy can still be followed imperfectly.
Make one useful follow-up
Try: “You made bringing a puzzle sound compulsory. Rewrite that line to show it is optional, and keep all other facts unchanged.” Read the revised answer again; a correction to one line can affect another.
If the notice is long, work with one relevant section and its surrounding conditions. Check the full original before acting, especially where an exception appears elsewhere.
Use the habit on a real task
Share only material you have permission to use. A public event notice is an easier starting point than private school correspondence or a workplace document. Remove personal details before submitting anything.
Save the summary beside its source and date. For a real event, confirm any missing arrangements with the organizer through their usual contact route. The practical win is a shorter note whose important details you can trace.
